Sabrewing Aircraft Company (SACO) is a manufacturer of unmanned heavy-lift commercial cargo air vehicles headquartered in Camarillo, California, USA. Our technologies and products will help grow our customers businesses and transform the way the world ships air-cargo.

Sabrewing creates innovative technologies at its Dragonworks Lab in Silicon Valley to develop a new era of advanced unmanned cargo aircraft.

Dragonworks Lab

Sabrewing’s Dragonworks facility is located at the Hayward, California airport with lab facilities in Mountain View, California. Aircraft design, engineering, computer aided design (CAD), computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and preliminary 3D printed components are accomplished in our Mountain View laboratory.

Ed De Reyes

Ed is a retired Air Force veteran, serial entrepreneur and inventor, with several patents and patents-pending to his name. Several of the key technologies that Ed has developed are directly related to the field of aviation – including a patent for a unique nitrogen-power turbine engine that does not combust any fuel at all.

In February 2018, Ed retired as an experimental test pilot and flight test engineer, having worked for several companies, including McDonnell Douglas, Aerotest, General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman, Cobalt, Elytron, and Moller International to name a few.

Ed has also served as the chief technology officer for a carbon capture and storage start-up based on technology that he invented. Ed has a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MS in Aeronautical Engineering, and has design, test and integration experience in aircraft propulsion, avionics, flight dynamics and VTOL flight test. Ed’s experience includes FAA aircraft certification, and UAV test experience as far back as 1979 on the BGM-109 Cruise Missile.

Ed serves as a Voting Member of the American Standards of Testing and Materials (ASTM) in Aircraft Certification Standards, and has been a member of the Society of Flight Test Engineers for over 30 years.

Ed is a commercial, multi-engine and instrument rated pilot.

Oliver Garrow

Oliver’s reputation in the UAV and RC world is impeccable. He is a multi-discipline engineer in composites, mechanical, aerospace, electronics, aircraft design, flight sim and flight test. He started work on his first design over 15 years ago, building the first of what would be many innovative designs – from ducted fans to box wings to tilt-wings.

Oliver has built and demonstrated over 12 drones in the last 13 years and has several patents in the field of manned and unmanned aircraft. Oliver’s experience includes extensive wind tunnel tests at NASA Ames, UAV flight test at Moffett Field, California and Crows Landing in Central California.
Oliver has a MS in Computer Science from ENSEA-Paris and a BS in Electrical Engineering UPS-Toulouse (France). Oliver and Ed, co-founders of Sabrewing Aircraft, have been working together on a various projects since 2014.

Oliver has been a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association for over 20 years.

John Nevadomsky, or “Nevada” as he is known by has over 34 years of unmanned and manned flight test experience.

Nevada was the Director of the Pan-Pacific UAS Test Range Complex (PPUTRC) providing day-to-day RDT&E management of test sites in Alaska, Oregon, Hawaii, Kansas, and Iceland as part of one of seven Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Approved Test Ranges in the United States.

Mr. Nevadomsky retired from the Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) after 31 years where he served as a Flight Test Engineering / Operations Manager for several major unmanned flight test programs including the MQ-8C Fire Scout (shipboard rotary– wing); MQ-4C Triton (High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE); and the X-47 Unmanned Combat Aerial System (UCAS). His manned experience includes various aircraft including the EA-6B Prowler; E-2C Hawkeye; A-6E Intruder; F-5E/F/N; SH-3H; SH-60; A-4E; S-2E; and the NASA / DARPA Quiet Supersonic Program /Shaped SonicBoom Demonstrator (QSP/SSBD).

John was awarded his Master of Aeronautical (Aviation/Aerospace Safety Systems) and his Bachelor of Aeronautical Sciences degrees from Embry-Riddle AeronauticalUniversity, Daytona Beach, FL.

“Nevada” served both in the United States Air Force and the United States Naval Air Reserve. He retired after 32 years of military service as a Naval Officer in January 2006.

Steven Hamernick

Steven Hamernick is an Integration Manager for Sabrewing Aircraft Company, and is responsible for software and hardware integration of Sabrewing UAV’s. Mr. Hamernick is retired from the Royal Canadian with 24 years of service Naval Weapon engineer, as well as 4 years with Lockheed Martin as an Integration Technologist for Canada’s HCM Project.

Steven’s experience with Lockheed Martin and the RCN provided him with experience in radar systems, heavy weapon systems, and even missile systems. Steven specialized in command and control software, as well as extensive weapon system integration for the HCM Project.
Steven brings experience spanned from test/trial creation, installation, maintenance to final Sea Trials to Sabrewing and is responsible for overall system-of-systems integration.

Robert Musselman

Bob provides general business consulting services – including assistance with partnership and sponsorship agreements, contracts, business relationships and start-up consultation.

Bob is a Naval Academy graduate and retired nuclear submarine officer, Bob has led several successful startup and turnaround ventures as CEO. His career has focused on capital equipment manufacturing, cleantech and energy sectors.

Bob serves as Lead Executive-in-Residence and CEO coach for portfolio companies of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator. Bob is also an active member of the Pasadena Angels, a group of seed investors in startup companies. Products and services he has been involved with include design of heliostats for solar-thermal power plants, equipment for production of thin film photovoltaics, advanced oil purification systems, factory automation equipment, and consulting services to nuclear power plant operators. Bob’s academic background is in Systems Engineering, a masters in Nuclear Engineering, and MBA studies.

Kazunori Saito

Mr. Saito is an author, public speaker and angel investor in Japan. He has built his distinguished career in finance and accounting including positions such as the controller for Dow Chemical in Japan and as a public-sector employee in Financial Services Agency of Japan. Mr. Saito currently provides hands-on support for growth strategies and funding support for start-ups.

As an author and instructor, Mr. Saito is one of Singularity University’s global leaders and has been responsible for organizing a global start-up competition in Tokyo, which is sponsored by Sony.

Mr. Saito holds an MBA from the Waseda Univerisity School of Finance; heis is also the COO of Exponential Japan Inc. Non-Executive Director, en-japan inc. (Listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange).

Mike Murkowski

Mr. Murkowski retired as the Senior Vice President of South American Operations for Federal Express after over 30 years of distinguished service. During his time at the helm of their South American operations, Mike oversaw one of the largest growth periods for both cargo and revenue. Mike’s experience with all aspects of a large overnight package deliver company – as well as his experience with remote and difficult operating locations make Mike an ideal addition to the Sabrewing management team.

Mike has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from Willamette University and a Master’s degree in International Business from the American Graduate School of Business. Mike’s experience in use cases and operations led to Sabrewing’s increases in it’s Rhaegal aircraft’s gross weight and cubic cargo capacity.

Brigadier General Anthony J. Tata, US Army (Retired)

Gen. Tata has returned as a director on the Sabrewing board following his appointment as the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy under the Trump Administration.

General Tata is a combat veteran who was awarded the Combat Action Badge and Bronze Star for his service as the deputy Division Commander of the 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan. He is a graduate of US Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Army’s Ranger School. Anthony also served as Secretary of Transportation of North Carolina from 2013-2015 under Governor Pat McCory. General Tata is CEO of Tata Leadership Group, LLC and also a bestselling novelist whose subject matter focuses on military life. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from his first novel, Sudden Threat, have been donated to the USO Metro DC Hospital Services fund for Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
